Gentle Giant offers high-quality long-distance moves and difficult-to-find specialty services like piano moving, crane, and specialty moving as well. We have not seen those services with many of the movers we’ve reviewed!

We tried to get a quote, but the company wouldn’t share one with us. The average cost to for a local move, based on dozens of quotes from companies, is $1,396, while a long distance move costs an average of $6,017. Customers note, however, that Gentle Giant charges more than similar moving companies — standard nationwide rates are $2,000 for a 30-mile move — but they generally believe they get more than enough value to justify the cost.

The company’s primary drawback is that moves need to originate from one of Gentle Giant Moving Company’s home cities.

Customers who use Gentle Giant Moving Company generally like their service. Many reviewers say Gentle Giant’s movers are faster than other companies’ movers, helpful in unexpected ways, and very trustworthy.

We didn’t find anything in our research that damages Gentle Giant Moving Company’s credibility. The company’s registered with the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) and nobody has registered a complaint in the last four years.

We also didn’t find that Gentle Giant violated any U.S. DOT regulations about unsafe driving, vehicle maintenance, controlled substances and alcohol, and driver fitness. The company has excellent scores in each area. The U.S. DOT report includes only one Gentle Giant vehicle crash in the last 24 months.
