We were unable to get a quote, but our research shows that the company’s prices are about the industry standard. For example, a local move would be around $1,396, according to the average of dozens of quotes that we did receive. While a long-distance move would average to around $6,017.

Power Movers does offer packing, unpacking, and furniture assembly. So you can pick and choose which services you need for a reasonable price.

  • No company responses to formal Better Business Bureau complaints

Power Movers has extremely high ratings on third-party review sites. In fact, on Google, they’ve received an average rating of 5 out of 5 stars from 481 reviews. There weren’t as many Yelp reviews (89), but Power Movers got an average rating of 4.9 stars.

We’ll admit that it’s unusual for a company to have so many perfect reviews. There’s always a chance that the company could be rewarding customers who leave a good review.

Still, many reviewers loved how quickly the company responded to quote requests. And some reviewers specifically mentioned that Power Movers Houston moved them on very short notice.

Power Movers responded to the lower reviews on Yelp quickly and offered to resolve the problem. But, its Better Business Bureau (BBB) site has had five complaints in the last three years — three of those in the past year. So far, the company hasn’t responded to these complaints.

Credibility

📊 Our rating: 8/10

  • Proper licensing and registration
  • Basic moving insurance
Show more

Power Movers is registered with both the federal and state departments of transportation under the name Samson Power Movers. The records show that Power Movers drivers haven’t been in any reported accidents in the past two years. Because the company doesn’t handle moves between states, they don’t need to have a federal safety rating.

Power Movers has an active insurance policy, but based on customer reviews, the policy is only the government-required insurance. This basic, mandatory insurance has a rate of $0.60 per pound if something happens, which isn’t much. If you have fragile or valuable items, you might want to get extra insurance.

About Power Movers

In 2016, a Houston police officer saw too many Texan citizens being taken advantage of by predatory moving companies. So he started his own moving company — Power Movers. It’s a locally owned and operated business based in Houston. And it specializes in local residential and commercial moves in Texas.
